What are the most common lift faults?
Most lift breakdowns come from a handful of causes: a landing door lock not making contact, so the lift will not move; doors that keep reopening because the safety edge is dirty or misaligned; a lift stopping out of level; a tripped overspeed governor; a lift left on inspection after work on the car roof; and faults that come and go, often from a damaged travelling cable or a loose connection. What happens if the repair can’t be finished on the first visit?
Our engineer makes the lift safe, finds the fault and, before leaving site, records the diagnosis and the parts needed. We then send you a quote so you can approve the lift repair straight away, and we book the return visit as soon as the parts arrive. You are kept updated at each step.
How much does a lift repair cost?
It depends on the fault and the parts needed. Breakdown call-outs and parts are charged separately from a maintenance contract, and we always quote for parts and larger lift repairs before we start, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
Can you repair older lifts when parts are hard to find?
Yes. Our engineers work on lifts of all ages and makes. Where an original part is no longer made, we look for a suitable alternative. If a lift keeps breaking down because key parts are obsolete, we will tell you honestly whether replacing those parts, or modernising the lift, would cost less in the long run.
Do you repair dumbwaiters and food lifts?
Yes. Dumbwaiter and food lift repairs are a large part of our work for restaurants, pubs and hotels. We work on all makes, including larger repairs such as replacing hatch doors, selector and control boards, re-roping and replacing the car.
