Many people consider an elevator lobby to be nothing more than a pit stop on their approach to a business reception desk. A modern elevator, however, may be transformed into an appealing setting to engage both staff and clients for creative businesses wishing to make a lasting impression with custom corporate furnishings.

Lifts play a crucial role in keeping people and things moving, with minimum fuss. In the UK there are over 300,000 of them, but how many lifts have you used that have really stood out to you?

A modern office building lobby is the ideal place to incorporate a stand out elevator design, and really make your commercial building memorable.

Here are our top picks of modern office lift lobby designs for this year!

Why is elevator lobby design important?

A well-designed, modern lift lobby can accomplish the following things:

  • Set the mood for the day with your staff.
  • Make a good impression on potential customers.
  • Give directions or guidelines
  • Reflect the ideals and brand of the business.
  • Make a statement that is artistic or original.

A brand may present themselves in the best possible way by integrating relaxing lighting and cosy furniture into the design of their lift lobby by striking a balance between form and function. Brands that want to take their boldness one step further can partner with lift companies and invest in lift lobby designs that feature highly personalised components, such as unique elevator doors and interior design.

Elevator Lobby Branding Opportunities

Whether it’s the main lobby or the hallways connecting to residences, public spaces, private spaces, individual rooms, classrooms or offices, the lift lobby should blend into its surroundings.

In addition to circulation, this area serves to strengthen your brand. As a result, the furnishings and finishes used should be consistent with those used in your other public areas.

The commercial lift lobby may be more than just a route to move through your building with thoughtful design. This crucial transitional space should serve as a creative representation of your business and promote satisfying interactions between residents and visitors.

A petroleum management and logistics business with headquarters in Texas, Beusa Energy. Beusa is quite proud of its dedication to clean energy and sustainability, and it has a strong environmental policy in the fossil fuels sector.

Beusa’s corporate headquarters and lift lobby design particularly showcase these characteristics. For some really inspirational modern lift design ideas, do check out our blog section.

As visitors enter Beusa’s offices, they are greeted with the warm lighting of the green walls. Light filters through the lobby’s large windows, glass walls, and slightly open floor plan.

Beusa also constructed internal frameworks and ornamental displays for their lobby area using repurposed materials.

The lobby was also well-thought-out from a practical aspect, with broad, open corridors and lift bays as well as noise-cancelling wood panelling. The ultimate product was a warm lobby that reflected and upheld Beusa’s ethos of environmental awareness.

Showpad has a modern lift lobby design at their North American offices in Chicago that makes use of wood panel tiling and natural light to produce a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Floor to ceiling custom grid shelving with a mix of open space and lush green plant life is what clients will see when the elevator door opens.

Naturalistic and wood designs are extremely popular for 2023, and allows a brand to really show their eco-friendly and sustainable side.

Futuristic lobby design

Online security and visualisation technology company NTrepid is forward-thinking, and you can certainly tell from their office design. NTrepid describes itself as a “unconventional technology company” and boasts an innovative, team-oriented culture. NTrepid has a futuristic appearance with blue and grey tones to depict this culture through the architecture of its lift lobby.

The blank silver closed elevator design continues the futuristic feel, and incorporates a simplistic look which opposes the bold surroundings.

The lobby is decorated with a mix of warm wood-panelled walls and ceiling baffles, modern signs and patterning with sharp edges, and deep sea blue marble flooring. The foyer is well-lit with unobtrusive strip lighting, and the baffles work to muffle noise. As a result, NTrepid has a modern space that matches its aspirations and creativity.

Natural Stone

In keeping with the main medium used by their machineries, Komatsu (a manufacturing company)’s lift lobby is awash in natural earth tones. The area is well-lit, guiding guests with wayfinding signage and emphasising a sense of stability and unwavering strength.

The big floor number motif on the lift doors makes a statement while blending in with the patterns on the lobby walls. The dramatic grandeur of the doors, which are symbolic of the enormous scale of the projects Komatsu conducts, clearly displays each floor level.

Office Lift Lobby Design FAQs

What should the interior designer consider when designing an elevator lobby?

Make sure your lift lobby design leaves an impression on guests and facilitates their interaction with the structure. The design of the lift lobby is heavily influenced by factors including safety, comfort, and aesthetics. The general colour scheme and design of the lobby are influenced by the brand or architectural style of the building.

What is lobby design?

The purpose of the lobby space type, which includes foyers, entrances to hallways, and security screening spaces at or near a building or delimited space’s entrance, is to greet and direct tenants and guests, manage access, and provide exits from buildings. How many elevators should an office building have?

The ratio of lifts to square footage should be one for every 50,000 square feet rather than units. For buildings with more than 10 stories, you should also think about installing a service lift. Larger lifts are common in office buildings to accommodate more people moving during peak hours.
